About Mwananchi Oversight

Enhancing Transparency and Accountability in Governance

About

Mwananchi Oversight is an open-source, extensive community based, and evidence-backed checking platform committed to improving public accountability and responsibility in the Kenyan governance. We are basically a 'mini-wikipedia' that documents, explains and tracks government policies, parliamentary activities, manifesto implementation, and other topics of public interest.

Our platform crowdsources verified data from reputable and autoritative sources like government websites, video clips and articles from media houses, general public as well as publicly available documents like Parliment hansards. This aims to empower the citizens of Kenya with centralized reference tools and knowledge that can enable them to keep their elected politicians in check and make more rational voting decisions in future.

Real-time Monitoring

We continuously monitor parliamentary proceedings, policy announcements, and government communications to provide up-to-date information to Kenyans. We refer to media publications as well as video excerpts and provide in-text citation for every content in our platform.

Data Verification

As the name suggests, Shadrack Matata is just another curious dude who understands why and how things work the way they do. A chess addict who doesn't need alcohol influence to say stupid things. I'm simply using Jascript to help fellow Kenyans make some more reasonable choices at the ballot in future - an opportunity that I've never had before.
